Flexibility for Blue Box Self Storage

FAQs

We know you may have loads of questions, below are some of the most common.  If you still have unanswered questions please let us know using the contact form.

Why choose Blue Box Storage?

Blue Box Storage is focused on customer relations and customer satisfaction, as such, we have a large proportion of business and residential customers that return to us, as well as friends and family that are recommended to us. We are a small company that still believe in the ‘old values’ of listening to our customers and where applicable we will make improvements or assist in easing the burden to our customers. We understand that this is a stressful time for any of our customers and therefore we endeavour to make storage as simple and easy as possible.

What size rooms do you offer?

Our standard room sizes range from a telephone box size, approximately 10sqft (3ft x 3ft floorspace with a 7ft – 10ft high ceiling) to a double garage, approximately 200sqft (20ft x 10ft floorspace with a 7ft – 10ft high ceiling) so you only pay for the space that you require. We also offer larger room sizes if required, these may vary and are site specific. We always recommend to our customers to pop down to view the different sizes available, to better gauge their actual requirement for storage.

How much does it cost?

The cost at Blue Box Storage will depend on the size of the room, and you can find our full price list on line for all standard room sizes. There are no additional charges for the hire of the room (albeit insurance cover and a padlock to secure your room) and the price advertised is fully inclusive of rent, rates, lighting, delivery of goods, location within the building, maintenance and all service charges. In addition, we charge on a calendar monthly basis (so if you move in on the 5th it will be due on the 5th of each calendar month), although the initial payment can be prorated to any date for your convenience. The price you see is the price you pay.

What method of payments do you accept?

Blue Box Storage accept all major credit and debit cards, or if you prefer you can pay by cash or cheque. Ongoing payments can be paid by a standing order mandate or credit card debit payment; alternatively you can continue to pay by cash, cheque, credit card or debit card. All customers are invoiced at least two weeks prior to their payment due date.

Do you offer discounts?

We run promotional discounts at various times and you should check in store for details.

If you are looking to store for a long period of time feel free to speak to a member of staff to see if we can help.

We are also proud to offer 10% off to any armed forces, police officers, or emergency responders (Eg. Fire Fighters)

I’m not sure how long I require storage for?

Blue Box Storage can store your goods for as little as two weeks to as long as you like. As long as you continue to pay monthly, quarterly, six monthly or annually we will assume that you wish to continue storing with us. When you no longer require storage, all we ask is that you give us two weeks notice before you vacate, and any unused hire on a daily basis will be returned to you by cheque, or BACS.

My goods may increase or decrease during storage?

Blue Box Storage do not charge for customers to transfer to a larger or smaller room size – no notice is required and you can transfer as many times as you like. Therefore whether you are a householder that is moving some items initially or a business that has seasonal stock fluctuations, you can be sure that you will only be paying for the space that you use.

Where can I purchase packaging materials?

At Blue Box Storage we offer a full range of packaging materials from our on-site shops for your every moving need at very competitive prices. We sell a range of boxes, bubblewrap, tape, padlocks, dustsheets, and protective coverings, amongst others. If there is something specific that you require please enquire at one of our sites and we will try our best to get it for you

What can I store?

Blue Box Storage can store anything as long as it is not illegal, perishable or inflammable. Apart from that a few other precautions should be taken (i.e. fridges, freezers should be defrosted, washing machines drained down, petrol removed from lawnmowers, cooking implements degreased).  See our helpful hints for more information.

How do I know my goods are safe whilst in storage?

Blue Box Storage takes all measures possible to ensure the safety of their customers’ goods. For peace of mind all our sites have 24 hour monitored CCTV, a RedCare monitored alarm system, smoke detection where applicable, monitored fire alarm system, personal electronic gate access at selected sites with individual room alarms. In case of any alarm activation we have a 24-hour mobile security patrol that will attend site within minutes, as well as the relevant emergency services being called out. In addition, you secure your room with your own lock and key.

How often can I access my room?

You can access your room at Blue Box Storage as often as you like or as long as you like during our opening hours at no extra charge, or whenever you like if you have a 24-hour access room. So whether you want to bring in or take away goods, or just check up on your belongings you can do so at your own time and pace. All our sites have toilets and refreshments for your convenience, and ample car parking.

How do I arrange insurance cover?

At Blue Box Storage insurance is compulsory for all customers whether you arrange yourself or take out our insurance option. Many home or business insurance companies now cover your goods whilst in storage so check your current policy, in which case all we require is a copy of your policy document. Alternatively, you can opt to take out Blue Box Storage’s insurance option that can be completed at the same time as your licence agreement for your room.

What about removals for my goods to the room?

Blue Box Storage is a self storage company and do not do removals themselves, but we can recommend competent, fully insured removal companies that are local to the area and we offer as much or as little help as you require for the movement of your goods. Alternatively, if you prefer to carry out the move yourself, Blue Box Storage can recommend a local van hire company of good repute. Whatever decision you take once you reach one of our locations we offer all the facilities you require for moving your goods from the vehicle to the room – trolleys, pallet trucks, sack barrows, cages, and dollies.

What do I require to move in?

To move in at Blue Box Storage is simple. All we require is two forms of identification a driver’s licence or passport and a utility bill. A refundable security deposit (equivalent to one month’s hire) and the first month’s hire in advance. A copy of your insurance policy if you have arranged your own cover and if you have a padlock at home by all means bring it down (alternatively we sell a range of padlocks on-site).

What other services do you offer?

Blue Box Storage is storage made simple. We try and anticipate and offer all the services that you may require for your move. At no additional charge we will take in your goods and call you when they arrive so you can put them into your room when you have time available, rather than waiting for that new sofa or sales delivery to arrive. If you want to maximise the space in your room we either sell or hire racking for your goods or documents, if you want we will plan out the room for your exact requirements and then erect the racking at no extra charge (for rooms up to 200sqft). We also have facsimile, telephone and photocopying on site for a nominal charge. We also offer free refreshments at all our sites, and why not take advantage of our free pens and keyrings. Blue Box Storage continues to review their services and welcome any suggestions for improvements from their customers.
